Stray dogs case | 'For every dog bite death, we will likely fix heavy compensation by state': Supreme Court

Justice Nath said, 'For every dog bite, death or injury caused to children or elderly, we are likely going to fix heavy compensation by state, for not doing anything."

The Supreme Court continued to hear the stray dogs case on Tuesday with one of the judges saying that they will likely impose heavy compensation to be paid by state for every every dog bite, death or injury caused to children or elderly.

LiveLaw reported that a bench comprised Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria while hearing the case said, "For every dog bite, death or injury caused to children or elderly, we are likely going to fix heavy compensation by state, for not doing anything."

"Also, liability and accountability on those who are saying we are feedings dogs. Do it, take them to your house. Why should dogs be littering around, biting, scaring people?" Justice Nath said.
