<p>Hyderabad: In a gruesome murder in Hyderabad's Meerpet an ex-Army jawan, Putta Gurumurthy, who is now working as a private security guard, killed his wife, Venkata Madhavi Latha. To cover his crime he allegedly chopped the dead body into pieces and cooked those parts in a vessel for three days, then ground the bones using a pestle and dumped them in a nearby lake.</p><p>While the incident occurred on January 15, Gurumurthy, accompanied by Madhavi Latha's mother, went to the local police station to lodge a missing person's complaint on January 18. Later, after reviewing the CCTV footage, the police became suspicious of Gurumurthy's actions and questioned him, which led to his confession of the crime.</p><p>The children were at their grandparents' place during the Sankranthi vacation when the murder took place. Police are yet to establish the veracity of the claims by Gurumurthy. He lives with his family in a rented house in New Venkateswara Nagar Colony in Jillelguda, Rangareddy district.</p><p>In the process of searching for Venkata Madhavi's whereabouts, police examined the CCTV cameras in front of the house. The footage showed Venkata Madhavi entering the house, but there was no evidence of her leaving.</p><p>Suspecting that something had happened inside the house, the police took Gurumurthy into custody, and interrogated him. The police stated that they are not only relying on information given by Gurumurthy, but also verifying it with their own independent investigation findings. The police intensified their investigation using clues teams, and other evidence. “We didn't expect him to do this with Madhavi. If it's true, Gurumurthy should be given the highest punishment,” said Madhavi's aunt Shanthi.</p>
