Alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of India’s achievement in shooting down a satellite was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will lodge a complaint to the Election Commission (EC). She also described the Prime Minister’s action as “limitless drama.”

“There is no great urgency in conducting and announcing the mission now by a government past its expiry date. It seems a desperate oxygen to save the imminent sinking of the BJP boat. We are lodging a complaint with the Election Commission,” tweeted Banerjee.

The Chief Minister also described the announcement as a “gross violation of Model Code of Conduct.”

“Today’s announcement is yet another limitless drama and publicity mongering by Modi desperately trying to reap political benefits at the time of election. This is a gross violation of Model Code of Conduct,” tweeted Banerjee.

Later in the day during the release of TMC’s election manifesto Banerjee said that instead of the Prime Minister the announcement the concerned scientists.

“What was the need for Modi to violate the MCC by making such an announcement. The announcement should have been made by the scientists,” said Banerjee.
