<p>Lucknow: A portion of a Mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, about 325 kilometres from here, which was allegedly built on ‘encroached’ land, was demolished by bulldozers on Sunday.</p><p>According to the sources, six bulldozers were used to demolish the ‘encroached’ portion of the Madni Mosque, which was situated in Hata town in the district, in the presence of a large number of security personnel and senior officials.</p><p>Saffron activist Ram Bachan Singh had complained on the chief minister’s portal that the Madni Masjid was built after encroaching the government land and had demanded a survey of the same.</p>.Allahabad High Court dismisses petition seeking permission to mount loudspeaker on mosque.<p>A survey was conducted by a team from the revenue department, a few months back. A notice was given to the Mosque caretaker after it was found that a portion of the Mosque was built on encroached land.</p><p>The Mosque management had later moved the Allahabad high court and a stay was granted on demolition of the encroached portion of the Mosque. The stay was till Saturday. </p><p>The caretaker of the mosque said that the Muslim community had purchased 32 decimal land around 15 years back for the purpose of constructing the mosque. He also claimed that there was no encroachment and that the mosque stood on 30 decimal land.</p><p>The officials said that the mosque had been there for the past ten years and that the Muslims had been offering prayers there regularly.</p>
