<p>Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday suspended and arrested Kishanganj Jail Superintendent Kripashankar Pandey, after a video showing the official in an objectionable condition with a minor girl inmate went viral.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Kishanganj sub divisional police officer Kamini Bala visited the jail and inquired about the video. Refuting allegations of misbehaviour, Pandey said he embraced the girl like his daughter.<br /><br />Sources said the chief minister was so outraged over the officer’s misconduct that he suspended him. Kumar has also asked jail officials to probe the incident and bring out the truth.<br /><br />Kishanganj DM Pankaj Dixit, who ordered a probe immediately after the video went viral, said, “We have taken the matter seriously. Action will be taken against the accused jail official once the probe report is submitted.”<br /><br />Kamini Bala, who quizzed the jail official, said she would not like to comment on the issue till she submits her report in a day or two.<br /><br />Sources in Kishanganj said this is not the first time the jail official has been charged for misconduct. Last year, the then district magistrate Animesh Kumar Parashar ordered a probe over a similar charge.<br /><br />With the investigating team confirming Pandey’s guilt, the DM asked prisons department to take action. However, no action was taken against Pandey.<br /><br />In the ongoing case, Pandey, who was in Kishanganj for the past two years, seems to have pressurised the girl’s father not to press charges against him.<br /><br />But late on Wednesday evening, Nitish asked the Home Secretary and the IG to suspend Pandey with immediate effect. </p>
