Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the Union government led by the Prime Minister will implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and no one can stop it.

Addressing a rally in Kolkata to launch party’s Lok Sabha campaign, Shah said the people will re-elect Narendra Modi as the prime minister in 2024, thus leading the way for the party to come to power in the state in 2026. Thousands of party supporters attended the mega rally near Esplanade Junction in the heart of the city.

In April, while addressing a gathering at Suri in Bengal, the veteran leader had said that if they vote for the BJP, then the Mamata Banerjee-led government may collapse next year.

Attacks Mamata

Shah launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the issues of appeasement, infiltration, corruption and political violence and alleged she has ‘destroyed’ the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came to power with a call for change and for forming the Maa-Maati-Manush (pro-people) government. Has the change taken place, infiltration from across the borders stopped, appeasement (of the minority community) stopped, whether the political violence and corruption ceased, Shah questioned.

The BJP leader said that while the prime minister allocates funds to Bengal, it does not reach the poor.
