    The combined efforts of both Congress and JD(S) to wrest Shimoga Lok Sabha seat from BJP failed to produce desirable results as B Y Raghavendra of BJP registered a remarkable victory against Madhu Bangarappa of JD(S) by a margin of 2,23,360 votes.

    This has been the second highest victory margin in Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency after B S Yeddyurappa, who had won Shimoga seat by a margin of 3.63 lakh votes in 2014.

    B Y Raghavendra bagged 7,29,872 votes while Madhu Bangarappa got 5,06,512 votes. With this victory, BJP has conveyed a strong message that it still holds strong political hold over Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency.

    Rijiju had won the seat in 2014 by a margin of 41,738 votes.

    In the Eastern Parliamentary seat, Tapir Gao of the BJP is leading by a margin of 33,097 votes against his nearest rival Lowangcha Wanglat of the Congress.

    3 UP ministers ahead, 1 trailing

    Three out of the four Uttar Pradesh cabinet ministers fielded by the BJP are leading, according to the Election Commission trends.

    S P Singh Baghel, Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Satyadev Pachauri are leading over their rivals from their respective seats, while Mukut Bihari Verma are trailing in the latest round of counting.

    In Agra, Baghel, who is minister for animal husbandry, minor irrigation and fisheries, has polled 71,570 votes as compared to the BSP's Manoj Kumar Soni, who has got 57,370 votes.

    Pachauri is leading by over 40,000 votes against Congress candidate and former Union minister Sriprakash Jaiswal.

    Pachauri holds the portfolio of sericulture, textile, micro, small and medium enterprises, and export promotion in the cabinet headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

    In Allahabad, Joshi is leading by over 58,000 votes against Rajendra Singh Patel of the Samajwadi Party. Joshi holds the portfolio of women's welfare, family welfare, mother and Child Welfare, and tourism.

    However, Mukut Bihari Verma, the minister for cooperative, is trailing by over 75,000 votes against the BSP's Ritesh Pandey in Ambedkar Nagar. PTI

    The BJP is maintaining a lead on the 10 out of total 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh while the Congress is leading only in Bastar (ST) constituency, as per the trends available so far.

    Prajwal Revanna expressed happiness over winning by a huge margin in the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to reporters, after the results were announced, he said though he was confident of victory, did not expect a huge lead.

He also thanked the Congress leaders for their support, keeping aside all their differences and also JD(S) party workers for working day and night ensuring his victory.     As per initial trends, the TMC has so far secured 44.61 per cent votes, closely followed by the BJP, which has bagged 38.99 per cent votes.
