City Municipal Council Commissioner M V Tusharamani has directed the owners of lodges and hotels in the city to provide parking facility for customers’ vehicles, before November 9.

Speaking during a meeting organised by the Police Department and the CMC, along with lodge and hotel owners on Tuesday, Tusharamani said that the public have been facing a lot of inconvenience, owing to haphazard parking of vehicles by the customers visiting lodges and hotels at M G Road, I G Road and Market Road.

It is the responsibility of hotels and lodge owners to provide parking facility for their customers’ vehicles. A month’s time will be given (till November 9) to provide the facility, failing which, legal action would be inevitable.

“Waste management cess has been imposed on hotels and lodges. Big hotels and lodges are required to pay Rs 70 and small hotels have to pay Rs 50,” Tusharamani said.

Superintendent of Police K Annamalai noted that the public places meant for parking are being used for commercial purposes, which should be strictly avoided.

CMC President Shilpa Rajashekhar and Vice President Sudhir and Commissioner M V Tusharamani were present at the meeting.
