Jadhav stages stir against Cong for 'distributing cash'

Last Updated 19 May 2019, 21:56 IST

Gulbarga Lok Sabha reserved constituency BJP candidate Dr Umesh Jadhav on Sunday waylaid a police vehicle in Khanapur and staged a protest for a while, charging that Chittapur taluk panchayat member Namadev Rathod was distributing money to voters.

Khanapur comes under the Chincholi Assembly segment to which by-election was held on Sunday. He charged that money was being distributed in five-six vehicles, along with weapons. The BJP workers threw stones at the vehicle which, they alleged, was used for distributing money.

Rathod said the BJP leaders were making baseless allegations. He said Jadhav was taking a revenge against him for lodging a complaint against his (Jadhav's) supporters, who tried to assault Minister Parameshwara Naik during the Lok Sabha polls.

Superintendent of Police Iada Martin Marbaniang told DH that the BJP had alleged that a Congress leader was distributing cash.

"We will conduct an impartial inquiry, if a complaint is lodged," he said. Marbaniang also visited the spot.
