BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday dared West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of getting him arrested for chanting Jai Shri Ram.

Shah who addressed three back to back rallies in the state during the day also asked the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo if one is not allowed to chant Jai Shri Ram in Bengal then should the slogan be raised in Pakistan.

“I have come here today and I will say Jai Shri Ram. Mamata didi get me arrested if you can. Mamata didi if you have the guts put me in jail,” said Shah. He was addressing an election rally at the Bishnupur Lok Sabha constituency in Bankura district.

Referring to a video which shows the Chief Minister stepping out of her car and chasing some people who chanted Jai Shri Ram Shah said that Banerjee cannot stop people in Bengal to raise the slogan. He further alleged that Banerjee after stepping out of her car threatened to put those in jail who chant Jai Shri Ram.

“Mamata didi listen carefully this is West Bengal and not Pakistan. Here you can’t stop people from chanting Jai Shri Ram,” said Shah.

At another rally in the Ghatal constituency of West Medinipur district Shah asked Banerjee if one is not allowed to chant Jai Shri Ram in Bengal then should the person raise the slogan in Pakistan.

“Can anyone stop us in India from chanting the name of Lord Ram, the symbol of Indian culture? I want to ask Mamata didi if one can’t raise the slogan of Jai Shri Ram in India then should the person raise it in Pakistan,?’ said Shah.

He also defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi in relation to his comments about corruption during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure and asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to tell the people whether the Bofors scam took place during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure.

“Recently Modi Ji said that the Bofors scam took place during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure. Did he say anything wrong? Let Rahul Gandhi tell the people whether the Bofors scam, the Bhopal gas tragedy, the blunder of sending a peacekeeping force to Sri Lanka took place during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure,” said Shah at a rally at Belda in West Medinipur district.
