The Cannes film festival is not just a celebration of art, cinema, actors and celebrities; it’s also a festival that celebrates its fans, people who visit Cannes from all over the world, influencers and media, students of movie making, makeup professionals, stylists and real people like us… it truly is a festival from every perspective.

The town, as we arrived to attend the festival and also to see this beautiful part of the French Riviera, was buzzing with action. It is a progressive town with its inhabitants full of verve and enthusiasm as they greet people from all the parts of the world with love.

Cannes is a beautiful resort town by the Mediterranean, known for its association with the rich and the famous. Most importantly, it is home to the Palais des festival and its red carpet walk of fame.

This town has upmarket boutiques and boulevards, and a walk along the promenade and the streets leaves you starstruck: every woman is a fashionista here, especially at this time of the year. The town offers luxury hotels with some great food to gorge on, and pristine beaches that show the true colours of water. Some mind-blowing parties, hosted by brands, take place during the festival. The town at this moment is overflowing with celebrities at their craziest best. Cannes in itself is a statement and the cynosure of the world at the moment.

The stars who arrive are not just stars but artists from world cinema who must fulfil the expectations of fans and critics alike. This is a lot of pressure and simultaneously a great emotional feeling, since every step they take on the red carpet is a reminder of the journey that made them reach these heights. The journey of film stars and the art of filmmaking is showcased every day during the festival, as movies from across the world premiere here.

There is so much more than just fashion: there’s philosophy and hard work, and there’s the love of locals and fans who don’t mind pushing and being pushed around. There’s creativity in the form of people, things, food, artifacts.

The festival also provides a chance for directors from diverse countries to come together to collaborate and experiment, thereby uniting the world on one canvas.

There are yacht and beach parties for tourists and some incredibly entertaining nightlife and finally the beautiful people who make all of this worthwhile.

We loved the look of Eva Longoria in her dazzling gold and champagne gown, Kangana Ranaut in a beautiful gold sari, and Deepika Padukone, queen of Bollywood, in her avant garde choices.

Cannes is an alluring and enticing beauty. Yes, it is the Game of Thrones here… each is making an opulent statement about being queen Khaleesi of the celebrity world. The stars are the knights mounted on the pride of their achievements, entering the red carpet with elan, and displaying their power over fans and paparazzi as we are left enamoured.

And that’s the way… aha aha... we like it (song that played when Eva Longoria made her debut on the red carpet in her dazzling champagne gold gown and stole the show).
