Metrolife: For first time in career Hariprriya plays a cop

The first look of actor Hariprriya’s 25th film in Kannada, ‘ D/o Parvathamma (Daughter of Parvathamma)’ has been released and the actor looks every inch like the role that she’s essaying in the film - an investigative officer.

Her toned body and sharp expressions are proof that the actor has worked hard to attain the look required for her role.

There are primarily two factors that make this project special for her. “This is my 25th film in the Kannada film industry, and I am playing an investigating officer -- a role that I have never done before,” Hariprriya tells Metrolife.

She goes by the character name of Vydhehi. “There are two looks. One is that of a college-goer and the other a police officer. My physical appearances change for both. There are some scenes where I have had to lose weight and somewhere I have to gain a few kilos,” she explains.

The actor says that she doesn’t mind working hard, especially when the role is interesting. “It’s not always that an actor gets roles like this. More than my looks, the focus is on how an officer uses her skill and intelligence to crack a rather tough case. I had to literally live the character every single day. My body language, expressions, and dialogues had to be convincing,” she adds.

About her costumes, Hariprriya says “We didn’t get the exact designs and colours that we were looking for. So we had to source the material and get it designed according to the requirement,” she adds.

The actor is thrilled that she is getting to play a variety of roles. “I have managed to portray contrasting roles in almost all projects so far. If I played a Naxalite in ‘Ricky’, I slipped into the character of a call girl in ‘Neer Dose’ and I played a girl from North Karnataka in ‘Bharjari’. I try to keep the monotony out,” she adds.

How does it feel to complete 25 films in the Kannada film industry? Hariprriya gets nostalgic, “I had no intentions of entering the film industry. Whatever I have learnt is what I have gathered on the job. I have come up the hard way.” With three films already released this year, the actor points out that she has six more in hand. “I looking forward to a year with lots of releases,” she signs off.
