Music is said to be a remedy for the soul, a form of therapy recommended to everyone. While the City is inundated with various bands playing different genres and entertaining a varied crowd, some musicians use music as a healing process. ‘Zois’ is one such band that believes in healing and soothing their audience through their music.

The band comprises Emman on guitar, Jason, the IT guy of the band and drummer, Kevin, who complements the band with his low-hitting bass style and high peaking vocals, and Simon, who is the youngest member of the band and works the keyboard.

A progressive gospel band that was formed nearly a year back, the name ‘Zois’ originates from the Greek word that means ‘life’. They came together to “speak life through music” and create a reverberating tune of hope and soulfulness with their listeners.

They bring together musicians who play varied genres and produce sheer brilliance in their performance and compositions.

By indulging in genres like funk, rock, blues and country, they have carved a niche for themselves thanks to a plethora of catchy tunes.

Santosh Pradeep, the baritone of the band and the founder of ‘Zois’, says, “For years, it had been my dream to form a band that brings life through music. I’ve been associated with music for more than 10 years. However, I have no formal training in music.”

“Whatever little I’ve had has been through my friendship and association with different musicians and bands. I’ve worked with many musicians and observed that music is either a hobby for them or a means of livelihood. So I wanted to put together a band for the good of the audience,” he adds.

His vision slowly penetrated into the hearts of the other members. Pradeep has a keen ear for tones and patterns. He adds, “I have known them (band members) for a long time, almost a decade now. They are my friends and fellow musicians. So, when I sat them down and put my proposal forward, they were on board that very second. Our mutual love for music and respect for each other brought us together.” The relatively new band has performed for a Rotary Club event and at college festivals and has received appreciation.
