When the resident DJ of Tomorrowland, one of the biggest musical festivals in the world, came to the Capital, the City drowned to the beats of this musical sensation. Belgium-based DJ Yves has been to India over a couple of times, but every time he lands, the enthusiasm for his performance multiplies. “ If you go by my social network feeds, my Twitter is exploding right now. I think people in India are really fond of electronic dance music”, said Yves ahead of setting the stage ablaze with his performance at Shiro recently.

The live wire who makes millions of music lovers go gaga over his music in open grounds and stadiums is on a tour to perform in different cities of India. Make him compare the experience of performing for Tomorrowland and a club-sized gathering in Delhi or Mumbai and he replies in the wink of an eye, “For me, it was always a dream to produce music. It’s my passion to make music, and it doesn’t matter how big a gathering is. What matters is that I play and the audience enjoys it to the maximum.”

Coming from the land which is known for its chocolates and beers, the Antwerp-based DJ says, “ You know, when I am on a tour, what I miss the most are  ‘frites’. Frites are what you call french fries, but Belgium has a culture of making some really amazing fries.” He admits, “ I do not remember the names of dishes that I like in India but I love the taste of the spices they are cooked in.”
When asked, if given a choice, would he also remix Indian Bollywood music, “ I remix either international tracks or our own compositions for the sets I play during our performances,” to which he adds, “but it should be interesting to remix an Indian song.”

Yves started out as a Benelux-based DJ around 15 years ago. His musical journey steered him to the success of becoming a resident DJ at one of the mecca’s of music festivals in Belgium, Tomorrowland, almost seven years back. Now, he tours across the world, sharing his love for the music everywhere he goes. The night at Shiro ended with Yves famous track Wow, leaving the audience cheering for an encore.
