5 star hotel GM held for molesting Mexican

Police have arrested the general manager of a five-star hotel for allegedly molesting a Mexican woman in her room on Tuesday night.

Rishi Raj Singh, who recently joined the hotel, ITC Rajputana, as general manager, was arrested on charges of molestation levelled by the 25-year-old tourist with the Vidhyak Puri police station, Jaipur Police Commissioner Sanjay Agarwal said.

He was booked under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures; a demand or request for sexual favours; showing pornography against the will of a woman; or making sexually coloured remarks) and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint).

"The victim and a friend, both Mexican, had come on a tour to Jaipur on Tuesday, June 27. They had been referred to the accused, with whom they had breakfast and even went for an outing in the city. After the women returned to their rooms, the accused managed get in and allegedly molested one of them," Agarwal said.

The friend of the victim informed the police about the incident in the early hours of Wednesday.

"The friend had a flight to catch on Wednesday afternoon, so her statement was recorded, while the victim is still in Delhi and in touch with the state police. Evidence, including CCTV footage, was also retrieved", Agarwal said.

The Rajasthan Police have apprised the Mexican embassy of the incident, the commissioner said.
