<p>Nearly 700 flood-hit people in East Godavari district have been shifted to relief camps even as water level in Godavari river was receding gradually at Dowleswaram barrage.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Collector Neetu Prasad said, "696 flood-affected people have been shifted to four relief camps in the district. They are being provided with drinking water, food and other essential commodities."<br /><br />Sixty-four country boats, 14 mechanised boats and two launches were pressed into service to shift the people from villages under Devipatnam, Ainavalli, P Gannavaram, Kothapeta, Mummudivaram, Skhinetipalli, Ravulapalem, Allavaram and Mammidikudur mandals to relief camps, she said.<br /><br />Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa visited Appanapalli village in Mamidikuduru mandal and supervised the flood relief works, Prasad said.<br /><br />He also met the family members of a resident of Yenugupalli village who drowned in flood waters yesterday.<br /><br />Meanwhile, river Godavari's water level at Dowleswaram barrage was 14.40 feet at 7 pm as against 15.60 feet at 7 am today, Superintendent Engineer (Irrigation Circle) S Suguna Rao said.<br /><br />"The water level had been gradually decreasing at Dowleswaram barrage since morning. It may fall further by tomorrow," he said.<br /><br />"The irrigation officials are monitoring the water level continuously," Rao said, adding 13.86 lakh cusecs of water from the barrage was discharged in the sea today.</p>
