Bahujan Samaj will root out the BJP-led government from power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if their interests are ignored, Lalu Prasad's son and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Yadav wrote a letter to Modi, pressing for immediate promulgation of an Ordinance to reverse the verdict of the Allahabad High Court in 2017 which favoured department-wise filling up of vacant posts of teachers in universities.

Under the department-wise roster system, a candidate belonging to other backward classes (OBC) will be able to apply for a teaching job only when four vacant posts are advertised for filling up, a candidate belonging to scheduled caste (SC) can join the race only when seven vacant posts are advertised and a candidate belonging to the scheduled tribe (ST) can apply for teaching job only when 14 vacant posts are advertised, he noted.

“This simply means that children of people belonging to the Bahujan Samaj will never become a university teacher. Under your leadership, social justice is being denied all over the country. Bring an Ordinance to reinstate university wise roaster system, else Bahujan Samaj will root out this Jumla government from power,” Tejaswai said in his letter to the prime minister.

Various organisations representing the other backward classes (OBCs), Dalits and other marginalised sections of the society are up in arms against the government demanding for immediate promulgation of an Ordinance or enactment of law during the upcoming Session to reinstate university-wise roaster system for filling up vacancies in the universities.

They have intensified their demands for Ordinance or law to reverse 2017 Allahabad High Court Order which favoured department wise filling up of vacancies of teachers since the Supreme Court recently rejected a special leave petition filed by the Centre in this connection.

Tejashwi said that the RJD has already given a calling attention notice to raise the issue during the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament.

Several outfits representing the OBCs, Dalits and other marginalised communities are scheduled to hold a massive protest in Delhi on Thursday with the support of various Opposition parties including RJD, demanding a reversal of the Allahabad High Court verdict on the university roaster system.
