A principal and his son have been arrested in Bihar’s Saran district for raping a class X student. The minor accused is a classmate of the victim.

Apart from the father-son duo, 16 others, including two teachers, have been charged with sexually assaulting the girl on the campus during the last six months.

All 18 people named in the FIR have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The girl’s ordeal began in December last year when the principal's son, along with his friends, gang-raped her in the school toilet. They filmed the incident and later used it to blackmail her.

As the girl was coming out of the washroom, with blood stains on her uniform, the principal saw her and enquired about the incident. He allowed the victim to use his washroom but threatened to "ruin her career" if she informed anyone about the incident.

The girl did not attend classes for the next 10 days. Later, when she rejoined, the principal asked her to meet him in his office after the school hours. He showed her the video, blackmailed her and raped her in his chamber.

According to the FIR, the principal later threatened the girl with making the video public if she raised her voice, and again raped her. The modus operandi was used by two other teachers and 15 other students.

This continued till July 5, when five of her classmates gang-raped her at knife-point. The victim finally lodged an FIR on July 6.

“Seven people, including the principal, have been arrested. The latest arrest was made on Monday evening. Raids are on to nab the other absconding suspects,” said Chapra DSP, Ajay Kumar Singh, who is heading a five-member probe team.
