Congress MP from Bihar’s Kishanganj Lok Sabha constituency Maulana Asrarul Haque passed away on Friday.

The two-term parliamentarian, who won the 2014 Lok Sabha election despite a Modi wave in Bihar, suffered a heart attack in the early hours on Friday.

The 78-year-old Lok Sabha MP, who won his first parliamentary poll in 2009, was staying in the Circuit House at Kishanganj when he complained of uneasiness in the early hours on Friday. He was rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Asrarul Haque was one of the two Congress MPs who romped home in 2014 from Bihar.

The other parliamentarian was Ranjeet Ranjan, wife of suspended RJD MP Pappu Yadav.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who condoled the MP’s death, asked his officials to accord state funeral to the parliamentarian.
