A day after a mob attack on a police station in which a sub-inspector and a constable were seriously injured, Gopal Rao, range IG of Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh visited the police station and assured action on the culprits.

On Wednesday night relatives of a youth from a local Dalit colony stormed the police station and thrashed the sub-inspector and constable. The SI sensing trouble tried to save himself from the attackers, but he was dragged out and was beaten mercilessly. Women also took turns to beat the cops.

According to sources, police picked up Pichayya who was in an inebriated condition and two ladies Kanakamma and Laxmamma from Dalit colony for questioning in connection with a debt they took from one Joseph.
