The Central Vigilance Commission has completed its investigation into corruption charges against CBI Director Alok Verma after recording his statement and will be submitting its report to Supreme Court on Monday.

Verma appeared before the CVC for the second day on Friday and is learnt to have made a point-by-point rebuttal of allegations levelled against him by Special Director Rakesh Asthana, who also met the CVC during the day.

Both Verma and Asthana were sent on leave last month after infighting intensified within CBI with both officers leading their own factions.

The duo met the CVC on Thursday too. Earlier, Verma had submitted a written statement to the CVC.

Sources said the CVC is likely to finalise the report by Saturday evening and submit its finding to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court had on October 26 asked the CVC to complete within two weeks its inquiry into allegations against Verma levelled by Asthana.

Verma has denied allegations of taking a bribe of Rs 2 crore from a Hyderabad-based businessman Satish Sana, who was related to a case involving controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi. Sana also stuck to his complaint against Asthana, which formed the basis of a CBI FIR on October 15.
