BJP president J P Nadda on Tuesday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has left out several Hindu OBC castes out of the reserved category due to appeasement politics.

Addressing a rally at Kotulpur in Bankura district, Nadda said that if BJP is voted to power in Bengal, then it will include these caste groups in the reserved category.

“Mamata didi has left several Hindu OBC castes such as the Mahishya and Teli out of the reserved category due to her appeasement politics. If BJP is voted to power we will include them in the reserved category,” said Nadda.

Nadda further alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo was reciting Sanskrit shlokas to uphold her Hindu identity after decades of appeasement politics.

“I came to know Mamata didi is now reciting Chandi Path at Nandigram, from where she is contesting the elections. But in the last two decades you (Mamata) have resorted to minority appeasement, stopping Saraswati Puja and immersion of Durga idols,” said Nadda, Banerjee did Chandi Path on March 9 at Nandigram.

Nadda further alleged that during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Mamata prevented people from offering prayers by imposing a lockdown in Bengal.

Referring to a recent court verdict over the Batla House encounter case, Nadda said that Mamata in 2008 claimed that it was fake and she would quit politics if proven wrong.

“What will didi say now?” said Nadda.

A Delhi court on Monday awarded death penalty to the convict Ariz Khan for the murder of Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma in relation to the Batla House encounter case in 2008.

Nadda further alleged that even though the TMC supremo came to power in Bengal with the slogan of ‘Maa, Mati, Manuh’ (Mother, Soil and the People), but in the last 10 years her party had resorted to killing BJP workers, imposing dictatorship, torturing women, indulging in extortion and appeasement politics.”
