Accusing his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee of appeasement politics, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that 'Ramdrohis' should have nothing to do in the country and Bengal. He also alleged that there were efforts to stop slogans of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ in Bengal, but that people would not allow it.
“There are efforts to stop slogans of Jai Shree Ram in Bengal. All of us have to take this oath,” said Adiyanath. He was addressing a gathering in Malda district on the conclusion of BJP's Parivartan Yatra in the district.
The UP CM alleged that Bengal was dominated by appeasement politics in contrast with BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh where the rule of law was prevailing. Adityanath said that instances of 'Love jihad' were taking place in the state, but the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government failed to stop them.
Taking potshots at the TMC for opposing the CAA, Adityanath said the TMC government opposes refugees being granted citizenship but has no issues with illegal immigrants.
“Appeasement politics aimed at consolidating vote bank has not only endangered the security of Bengal but also the national security,” said Adityanath.
He said that if the BJP was voted to power in Bengal, it would stop cow smuggling and illegal slaughterhouses in the state within 24 hours.
“We have taken several steps to stop cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh. We have stopped cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh after coming to power in 2017. Vote BJP to power in Bengal and we will stop cow smuggling and illegal slaughter houses in the state within 24 hours,” said Adityanath.
Elections are scheduled to be held in 294 Assembly constituencies in the state in eight phases between March 27 and April 29.
