The West Bengal Assembly election 2021 is set to be a closely fought contest, with both the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP leaving no stone unturned to convince the voters about their sincerity to work for the state. Even the Sanjukta Morcha of the CPI(M), the Congress and the Indian Secular Front has increased the intensity of their campaigning as the voting in Bengal is set to begin from March 27.

According to a survey by Synovum Research Private Limited, the TMC is set to win a massive 181 seats out of the total 294 seats while the BJP will finish at a distant second with 99 seats. Sanjukta Morcha will bag 11 seats, it said.

According to the survey, which saw 23,100 participants, the TMC will win 18 out of the 22 seats in Murshidabad while the BJP will draw a blank in that region. The TMC will also win big in the North and South 24 Parganas while the BJP will struggle in those areas, it said. While the BJP will just edge ahead in the East and West Medinipur, the TMC's domination in most of the other districts gives them a clear win in the polls, as per the survey.

The Assembly elections in West Bengal will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 and end on April 29. The counting of the votes will take place on May 2.
