After playing hide and seek for the past couple of days, the much awaited rain finally made its presence felt in the capital on Tuesday. The city not only woke up to an overcast sky and drizzle, but it also received heavy rain in evening.

The Met department forecast shower spells in the coming days. The minimum temperature settled two notches below the season’s average at 25.2 degree Celsius.

“I have been making plans to go out on a rainy day, and today I got my chance. It was a pleasant surprise that gave us a reason to cheer,” said Jai Thakur, a north Delhi resident.

People enjoyed a pleasant morning with light showers at different parts of the city. “Nothing can be more wonderful than waking up to a cloudy sky with light shower,” said south Delhi resident Anubha Bagati.

“It was a welcome relief. I went out with my friends to enjoy the soothing weather,” said Amandeep Singh, an east Delhi resident. The meteorological department has forecast rain in the coming days.

“Delhi will experience rain, but it won’t be heavy showers. It will only be two to three cm rainfall,” said a Met official. The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.6 degree Celsius and humidity at 8.30 am was 79 per cent. “The maximum and minimum temperature on Wednesday will hover around 35 and 25 deg C respectively,” added the official.
