In a special drive by the CBI sleuths in some government hospitals/dispensaries in Chennai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, the team during its surprise checks found some of the drugs they gave to their patients had “lesser shelf life” while some others were drugs whose date of expiry was over.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Thursday, CBI joint director Ashok Kumar said they had also unearthed drugs “manufactured in unhygenic conditions”at the premises of five Pharmaceutical companies in Puducherry and one distributor in Chennai.
