<p class="title">Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday withdrew the ‘red alert’ issued to Tamil Nadu for extremely heavy rainfall. However, the MeT Department said a few districts would receive rains on Sunday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The IMD had on Thursday issued red alert warning to Tamil Nadu, which took precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“The extreme heavy rainfall warning announced for the southern parts of the state has been withdrawn since the upper-air circulation had weakened. However, places like Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari might receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, instead of extremely heavy rainfall, in the next 24-48 hours,” Deputy Director General S Balachandran said here.</p>
