The government will soon unveil an electric vehicle and biofuel vehicle policy to promote the 'green' vehicles in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday.

Inaugurating the Global Mobility Summit, MOVE, Modi said that the proposed policy will be a win-win situation for both clean fuel vehicle users as well as automobile makers.

While appealing to the automobile industry to join hands with the government to promote clean energy vehicles, Modi also urged the young generation to take the lead in researching and inventing green vehicles.

India is keen to take the lead in clean energy vehicles and will provide the required ecosystem to develop and boost electric and bio-fuel vehicles, he said.

Insisting that mobility is the key driver for the economic growth of the country, the PM said this will also help to fight against climate change.

The PM said mobility is ease of living and will also help to create jobs.

The two-day summit, organised by the Niti Aayog, was attended by top executives of global automobile giants including Suzuki, Toyota and Ford. Experts will deliberate on various issues related to mobility and clean energy technology and future technology in the sector in the event.
