KCR may dissolve Assembly next month: TPCC chief

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao might dissolve the state Assembly next month and seek fresh elections along with four other states— Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Chhattisgarh.

Speaking to cadre from Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, he claimed that Rao has already spoken to Prime Minister Narender Modi twice on holding early elections for Telangana Assembly.

Uttam urged party works to prepare for early polls on a war footing by strengthening the organisation.

He claimed that Rao has cheated people through fake and tall promises and all sections of the society were disappointed with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government's performance.

He said the benefits, that are derived when a new state is born, were confined only to Rao's family while the poor and weaker sections of the society remained completely neglected.

“Fearing that he could be questioned by the people on streets for the failure of his government to deliver on promises, KCR is preparing for early polls although his party was given a mandate for five years,” Uttam said.

He claimed that Rao tried to rule through intimidation during the last four years.

Rao either harassed people who opposed his wrong policies or lured them with money or posts, he said and added that the TRS government even tried to curtail the freedom of media.

Uttam said that Rao's government was based on false propaganda and fake perceptions and added that Rao's family has no moral right to continue in public life.

Uttam claimed that the names of thousands of Congress workers and leaders in the state were being deliberately deleted from the voters list.

He then directed party workers to check their names in electoral rolls and asked them to visit from Monday onwards to municipal offices concerned, Mandal revenue offices (MRO) or check online to identify the missing names and take required measures for the names to be re-included.

He told cadre that party president Rahul Gandhi had discussed a month-long agitation programme on the reported corruption in the Rafale deal.

He claimed that the BJP government at the Centre has committed a scam of Rs 41,000 crore in the purchase of Rafale fighter aircraft and the issue will have to be taken to the common man along with local issues.
