Kerala leaders court arrest over note ban

The Congress in Kerala on Friday organised protests in different parts of the state as part of a nationwide agitation against demonetisation.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V M Sudheeran and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor were among the leaders who courted arrest as part of the protests that saw hundreds of partymen coming together in front of Central government offices across districts. They were later released.

Minor scuffles were reported from protest venues in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
