Maharashtra MLA slaps clerk for demanding bribe

An FIR was registered against Bacchu Kadu, Independent MLA from Achalpur in Amravati district, who slapped Chandrawadan Hagavane (35), a clerk at the Health Department, for allegedly asked for a bribe to complete some pending work, police said.

He was booked under IPC Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and efforts are on to trace him, said Z M Gharad, Senior Inspector at Marine Drive Police Station.Irate employees later staged a noisy protest at the secretariat and declared that they will stop cooperating with the lawmaker for works related to his constituency in the backward Vidarbha region.The clerk was taken to government-run G T hospital where he was given first aid on his jaw, Gharad said.
