A youth abducted by militants from a village in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday evening was released on Tuesday with a bullet injury in his leg.

Sources said that Pervaiz Ahmad, who was abducted from his native Batmuran village on Monday evening, was released on Tuesday morning.

However, he has been shot in his leg.

Ahmad was among eight civilians abducted from Shopian villages during past one week.

Two among them Nadeem Manzoor Dar (17) and Huzaif Ahmad Kutay (19) were killed by the militants after abduction while rest were released by the captors.

While Nadeem's body was pumped with bullets, Ahmad's throat was slit.

Both were residents of Shopian. Militants in purported video messages have accused the slain youth of being informers of the forces.

Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo in an audio message released on social media threatened to kill those "who work for army and police as informers."

"We do not want to kill anyone, but they (informers) are forcing us. We will expose more such videos in the future and traitors will face a similar fate," he said.

The Hizbul commander has also warned panchs and sarpanchs of "justice", saying "they should wait for their turn."
