"My son committed mistake", Gujarat BJP chief

Reacting to reports of his son getting caught while cheating in university examination, Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani on Friday said that his son should be treated like any other student and would be dealt in accordance with the law.

Vaghani said, "My son has committed a mistake and he should be treated like any ordinary student and be dealt as per the law." He also added that his family has decided that his son Meet would not appear in the examination.

Vaghani said during a press conference at BJP headquarters, Kamlam, in Gandhinagar.

Vaghani denied allegations that there was an attempt to hush up the matter. Vaghani belongs to Bhavnagar. He has been a senate member of Bhavnagar University.

On Thursday, it was reported that his son Meet was caught while cheating in the second-semester examination of Bachelor of Computer Science at Vivekanand College of Computer Science in Bhavnagar. He was allegedly carrying 27 chits.

Vaghani announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be interacting with party workers and supporters at 500 places through video conference on March 31.

In Gujarat, 50 places have been chosen to hold this conference where senior party leaders will be present. Vaghani also announced that arrival of party president Amit Shah for filing nomination for Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat on Saturday morning.
