Rohit Shekhar, the son of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, was brought dead at a hospital in the national capital on Tuesday.

Shekhar, who stays in south Delhi's Defence Colony, had won a paternity suit against N D Tiwari, who had initially refused to accept him as his son.

Police said he was taken to Max Hospital in south Delhi where doctors declared him brought dead.

In 2014, after lawsuits and a DNA test, Tiwari finally accepted that Rohit was his son.

During the Uttarakhand Assembly polls in 2017, Rohit had joined the BJP in the presence of BJP chief Amit Shah and his father.

Rohit had in 2008 filed a paternity suit claiming that Tiwari is his biological father following which the court had ordered DNA mapping of Tiwari, which was finally done in 2012.

Delhi High Court had later rejected Tiwari's plea to keep the result secret and the results were released which established the senior leader as Rohit's biological father.
