Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘hitting touch’, and ‘healing touch’ statement, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday questioned how returning mutilated bodies of militants and imposing a ban on civilian traffic on a national highway can be considered as a “healing touch.”

“PM in an interview claims his approach towards Kashmir is a hitting touch to separatists & militants & a healing touch for civilians. Wondering how returning mutilated bodies of militants to families, imposing a road ban twice a week & detaining & humiliating Kashmiris is healing (sic),” Mehboob tweeted.

Modi in an interview with a national TV channel while reiterating NDA’s zero-tolerance towards militancy in Jammu & Kashmir, had criticised those who have been advocating for a ‘soft touch’ towards separatists in the state.

“Terrorists and separatists can only be dealt with hitting touch, while healing touch is reserved for the civilians,” Modi had said.
