Amid the ongoing protests in the country against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that everyone was a Hindu in India.

Addressing a meeting of RSS workers at Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad town, about 350 kilometers from here, Bhagwat also sought to distance Sangh from the BJP saying that the former was an apolitical organisation.

''The ancestors of all those, who are living here, were Hindus...no one came her from outside...all have inherited the same religion and culture,'' the Sangh chief said.

He said that RSS's definition of Hindu included all sections of the society. ''Our definition of Hindu does not exclude any language, religion or culture,'' Bhagwat added.

He urged the Sangh activists to work to make the country great again and restore its old glory. ''One must be proud of one's motherland,'' the RSS chief added.

The RSS chief also said that the Sangh had nothing to do with politics. ''RSS does not play any role in the polls,'' he said.

He also sought to dismiss oft-repeated charges by the opposition that RSS 'remote-controlled' the BJP.

Earlier Bhagwat had supported the CAA and asked the workers to fan out among the people and remove the confusion on the Act.

The four-day meeting of the RSS concluded at Moradabad on Saturday. Delegates from different parts of the country took part in the meeting.
