The expiry date of the Narendra Modi government is over and the new government will restore peace in Kashmir, said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday.

She was addressing the gathering at the conclusion of Trinamool Congress' ( TMC) International Woman's Day rally in Central Kolkata.

"Your ( Modi government's) expiry date is over. The new government will tackle terrorism and restore peace in Kashmir. We will defend peace and harmony in the country," said Banerjee.

She also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to create war hysteria in the country ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

"You ( Modi) didn't think of terrorists in the last five years. Now just because elections are approaching you are trying to create war hysteria in the hysteria in the country," said the Chief Minister.

She targeted the Prime Minister over the alleged theft of documents regarding the Rafale deal, terrorist attacks such as the ones in Pathankot Uri and Pulwama.

Banerjee further alleged that democratic institutions such as RBI and CBI are in jeopardy under the Modi government.
