The National Investigation Agency (NIA) invoked UAPA against suspended Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vazein in the case involving explosive laden-Scorpio near Antilia, the Carmichael Road residence of India’s top businessman Mukesh Ambani.

Vaze would be produced in the special NIA court on Thursday on expiry of his remand.

Meanwhile, in a related development, a Sessions court in Thane city asked the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Maharashtra police to hand over the case involving murder of SUV owner Mansukh Hiren to the NIA.

The ATS during the over fortnight-long investigation, arrested two persons Naresh Gor, a cricket bookie and Vinayak Shinde, a dismissed constable who is serving life sentence in a fake encounter case – and is currently on parole. Besides, it has named Vaze as the prime accused in the case.
