Cong manifesto vows Rs 3,500 per month for jobless

Congress promised to waive farm loans, pay pension to farmers and exempt farming equipment from GST. Party chief Rahul Gandhi has already promised farm loan waiver within 10 days of coming to power in the state.

To counter the Rs 5,000 allowance promised by ruling BJP in its manifesto, unemployed youth will get a monthly allowance of Rs 3,500.

Party state unit chief Sachin Pilot released the manifesto in the presence of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and chairman of the manifesto committee Harish Choudhary.

The manifesto, titled Jan Ghoshna Patra, also promised free education and travel for women and students who come to the state for examinations. University curriculum will be reviewed and aligned with corporate and industrial needs, the manifesto said.

Cong agenda

Sachin Pilot said the poll promises were made after taking opinion through multiple platforms such as social media. Two lakh suggestions were received before the preparation of the manifesto.

Right to health

The party has also promised to bring a law for the protection of journalists in the state. Promising time-bound implementation of the manifesto, Pilot said that his party intends to bring an accountability bill within 30 days of coming to power.

In the health sector, the party has promised Right to Health law to ensure quality healthcare for the public.

On Tuesday, the BJP released its manifesto promising over 50 lakh jobs in both private and government sector.
