IIT-M-incubated start-up reaches 5 lakh engineering students

GUVI, a start-up incubated by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M), has reached over 5 lakh engineering students through its e-learning platform which focusses on vernacular languages and reaching students in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

Also, courses offered by GUVI will now be incorporated into National Education Alliance for Technology (NEAT), a Public-Private Partnership model between Government of India and Education Technology companies. It is implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

GUVI, which has presence in over 1,200 engineering colleges across India, will sign a MoU for the above mentioned purpose on Tuesday in the presence of Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

GUVI has been upskilling learners with its Coding Practice and Assessment platform, IIT certified courses and specialized courses taught by prominent industry mentors and professors from IIT Madras.

“On a mission to reduce friction in tech learning and create 10 million programmers in India by 2022. GUVI being the first mover in offering technology content in vernacular languages has provided a holistic AI driven platform that meets the diverse needs of 5 Lakh students and 250+ employers,” S P Balamurugan, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, GUVI, said.

Balamurugan travelled to Mumbai to meet the five lakth learner - Vivek Sinha, an Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) Student from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Tamil Nadu and discussed how the GUVI platform can be best utilized to reach career goals in programming world.

GUVI, which offers an online platform for students to learn in their mother tongues, is offering specialized information technology courses to up skill students and make them ‘job ready’ without having to leave their house. The mission of GUVI is to take technology skills to all the deserving students and ensure demography is never a barricade to acquire skills.

GUVI has been recognized by IIT Madras Digital Skills Academy to offer joint certified courses and Anna University as a member of the Consortium of Industries for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University.
