The Indian Army on Tuesday said that it killed two Pakistani soldiers in retaliatory action along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

“In the retaliatory action to unprovoked ceasefire violations and repeated attempts to facilitate infiltration by the Pakistan army in the Tangdhar sector, our troops carried out calibrated operations last night (Monday) in which two Pakistani soldiers were killed,” Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.

Earlier, an official said the Pakistan troops violated ceasefire by targeting the Army's Anil Post, Cheetak Post and Black Rock Post with small arms along the LoC at around 7.15 am. The soldiers manning these posts returned fire effectively, he said.

The exchange of cross-border fire with small arms was going on when the report was filed.

On Monday, two Indian soldiers were killed in separate incidents along the LoC in Kashmir. Sepoy Pushpendra Kumar was killed in a sniper attack by Pakistan army along the LoC in Tanghdar.

Another soldier, Kuldeep Singh Rawat of 4 Garhwal Rifles, was killed in a blast in the Uri area of Baramulla district. It was not immediately clear as to how the blasts took place.
