Last Updated 16 April 2018, 12:16 IST

In a new twist to the Unnao gang-rape case, the victim has turned out to be an adult, contrary to claims by the family.

According to sources at Unnao district hospital, official records in the hospital mentions the age of the victim as 19, when she had initially lodged a complaint of rape with police last year.

A video of a doctor, who conducted the medical test of the victim then, claiming the same has also gone viral on social networking sites.

The doctor is heard saying that the age of victim had then been determined at 19.

The victim's family had claimed that she was a minor when she had been gang-raped by the MLA, his brother and some others.

Sources said that the CBI might drop the POCSO Act (Protection of children from sexual offences) from the charges against rape-accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Senger if it turns out that the victim is indeed an adult.

The MLA is currently in CBI custody after being remanded by the court. His brother Atul Senger and four others are also in jail after being arrested in connection with the gang-rape.

Sources in the police here said the CBI is likely to take the MLA to his native village of Makhi in Unnao district, about 60 km from here, on Monday for spot identification.

The victim had said that the lawmaker, his brother and some of their supporters had gang-raped her when she had approached Senger for a job.
