Raising questions on the usage of the money deposited in the PM CARES Fund, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday demanded to know where the money had gone and what was the future of funds.

Speaking to reporters at the State Secretariat the Chief Minister also asked why no audit had been done of the PM CARES Fund?

“How all the money has been used? Where has it gone? Does anyone know what is the future of the PM CARES Fund? What happened to crores of Rupees?” asked Banerjee.

She further alleged that the Centre was using its agencies to intimidate the State Government as the Assembly election was approaching. Refuting BJP’s allegation regarding the worsening law and order situation in the state Mamata said that the law and order situation was in Bengal was far better than other states.

“The Centre is using its agencies to threaten us and bulldoze the state. We will not get intimidated by such tactics,” said Banerjee. Lashing out at the saffron party she said that “it (BJP) was not a political party but a garbage of lies.”

Mamata also said that the people of Bengal would give a “ fitting reply” and teach BJP a “lesson inch by inch.”

She also targeted the Centre over the Covid-19 pandemic and asked how much financial help it had provided to the State Government to deal with the outbreak.

“The Centre is lecturing us. What have they done to help the State Government to tackle the pandemic? We will not go by their whims and fancies,” said Mamata.

The CPI(M) was also not spared. Accusing the CPI(M) of covertly aiding BJP Mamata said that it was “BJP’s biggest ally.”

The development comes at a time when the BJP was steadily raising its pitch against the Chief Minister and her party ahead of the Assembly elections next year.
