Disinvestment

  Apropos the article on disinvestment in PSU(Deccan Herald, 29th May), it is one way forward to move the economic reforms ahead. However, market conditions and the state of the economy need to be conducive to such reforms. As far as this decision, if mooted, may not generate the desired results, given the 'depressed conditions' on account of recession. PM needs to tread the path carefully and not be in haste in implementation of the same. Long term perspective has to be reckoned before jumping into such a hasty decision. If it is a case of an ailing PSU the position of govt is quite different from the ones which are already doing well in terms of the bottom line.
