Last Updated 23 January 2019, 19:07 IST

As the Department of Stamps and Registration took up an upgradation of its software ‘Kaveri’, registrations, including that of properties, were disrupted across the state, on Wednesday, inconveniencing people.

District Registration Officer, Mysuru, Vijayalakshmi Inamdar said that the patch for the registration software was released only on Monday evening and it is being incorporated on Wednesday.

“It should have been done on Tuesday, but as it was a holiday, due to the demise of Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swami, the work had to be taken up on Wednesday,” she said.

She said that in the offices of sub-registrars, across Mysuru district, the process is almost complete and there is a problem with only CD writing, which would be addressed soon.

To a query on the inconvenience caused to the people, who had scheduled registrations for Wednesday, as the department did not notify about the issue, District Registration officer, Chamarajanagar, Hamsaveni said that even she was not aware of the fact that it would be taken up on the day.

“The engineers of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), an autonomous scientific society of the Union department of Electronics and Information Technology, under the Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, are incorporating the patch with the help of our department engineers and technicians,” said Hamsaveni.

“The upgradation is almost complete in the offices in Chamarajanagar and Gundlupet. But, the process may take more time in other offices in the district, due to inferior internet connectivity there,” she added.

Sub-Registrar, Mysuru East, Triveni Circle, B G Manju said that the department has taken up the software upgradation across all offices and all computer systems are being covered.

“In our office, the process has been completed on one system. It is under progress on other systems,” he said.

K R Anitha, Sub-Registrar, Srirangapatna, Mandya district, said that the upgradation is almost over in her office and the registrations would resume on Thursday.

S G Prabhu of Prabhu Ceramics, Kuvempu Nagar, in the city, said, his family members were all inconvenienced as the Registration department had not taken any measure to alert those who had scheduled registrations for the day.

“For registration of a property, my family members had come from Nagpur and other places. They had booked their return flight and train tickets for Wednesday night. But, due to the disruption of registrations in offices of sub-registrars, they have to reschedule all their work,” he said.
