Clubhouse Android app may take two months to debut on Google Play store

Despite Clubhouse available only on the iOS ecosystem, it has steadily gained prominence in the industry.

Clubhouse has been in the industry for close to a year and yet it is moving slow to introduce the Android version on Google Play Store. It should be noted that the iOS Clubhouse version has registered 12 million downloads on iPhones, and the iOS holds a mobile market share of 27.47 per cent.

And Android commands more than 71 per cent and we can imagine, how bad it turn can out for the Clubhouse if the latter continues to drag its feet to enter the Google Play store.

The company hired an Android developer last month and in the recent town hall meeting, co-founder Paul Davison revealed that the company will be able to bring the Android version in two months.

But, in a competitive industry like mobile apps, it is deemed too slow. Many market watchers and also Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who regrets not able to come up with an alternative to Android, believe that the winner-takes-all market. Whoever makes the first move and gets instant traction, should not be slow to react to the competition or else will risk losing the battle.

Already, Twitter and Telegram have introduced their own version of live voice chatrooms features in their respective apps. Also, Facebook is really close to launching the same for Instagram.

With each passing day, rivals narrowing the gap of Clubhouse's lead. The latter should fast-track the launch of the Android version. However, Davison believes the user-experience and in-house discovery will be improved to attract new users and keep the attrition low.

With more and more people joining the Clubhouse on the iOS platform, it has become a bit difficult for users to find people with similar interests in subjects to talk and listen.

Clubhouse has plans to tweak the app's activity feed and offer more control to the users in addition to more personalisation options. This is expected to be incorporated in the upcoming Android version.
