After the opening Test in Perth in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia was mired in controversy due to a contentious out given to K L Rahul, the second Test is seeing a repeat of the same, where Mitchell Marsh was declared Not Out despite video evidence showing the ball clearly touching his pads.

Before the end of the first session, Indians appealed for an LBW to Mitchell Marsh on a Ravi Ashwin ball, but the Aussie batter was declared not out by the on-field umpire.

Confident of their call, India further took a DRS to send the decision upstairs, but the third umpire apparently saw no reason to overturn the onfield decision.

However, later images clearly showed how the ball hit the batter's pad first.

This has resulted in a flurry of criticism on social media about the quality of umpiring in the ongoing series.

One user, while sharing screenshots from the match, said, "Ridiculous, if that would have been an Indian batsman.. it would have been pad 1st..."

Another asked, "...what is the meaning of technology in cricket when you do not give the right decision?

Virat Kohli, the former fiery captain of India who is not afraid to pick up an on-field fight when needed, went up to the umpire to confront the latter on the decision, a video of which has been shared on social media:

Marsh was later dismissed by Ashwin himself when the former was batting on 9 from 26 balls.

Reports suggest India's review for this incident was later restored.

Jasprit Bumrah struck twice with the pink ball but half-centuries from Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head took Australia past India's first-innings tally to 191-4 on day two of the day-night second test on Saturday.

Australia were sitting pretty with an 11-run lead over India's 180 at the first break at Adelaide Oval after Head had led the charge with a belligerent 53 not out, which included two sixes off Ravichandran Ashwin.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh was batting on 2 at the other end as Australia looked to build a solid platform for a series-levelling victory.

The crafty seamer also dismissed Steve Smith for 2, strangling the out-of-form batter down the leg side with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant taking a diving catch.
