Lancashire police have begun a probe into a case where a man wearing a Pakistani cricket team jersey was asked to cover up his shirt during the recently concluded Test match between India and England at the Emirates Old Trafford, as per several media reports.

The fan has been identified as Farooq Nazar by the Pakistani media. He shared a video on social media in which a security personnel is seen asking him to cover his green limited-over jersey of the Pakistan cricket team.

"I've been asked by control if you can cover that shirt up, please," the security guard is heard saying.

Nazar kept arguing with the security officer, who identified himself as an employee of Lancashire Cricket Club, and was later approached by a police official who said that the conversation be carried on away from the stands.

Nazar also told the officials that the Indian fans around him have no problem with the jersey he was wearing. He eventually chose to leave the stadium instead of covering his shirt.

A TOI report claims that wearing shirts only of the two participating teams was a part of the policy for the fourth Test that was held at Manchester's Emirates Old Trafford stadium.

Meanwhile, tensions between India and Pakistan have swelled since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. A match between India Champions and Pakistan Champions was also called off recently at the World Championship of Legends after several former Indian cricketers refused to take part in the clash.

Lancashire, on the other hand, are increasingly building their rapport with Indian cricket officials and franchises. The Lancashire home team of The 100—Manchester Originals, will soon see Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group as its majority shareholder (70 per cent). The club's CEO has also suggested giving BCCI some stake in the tournament, as per an ESPNCricinfo report.
