After being picked in the national probables squad for the FIBA Asia Women’s Championship to be held in Wuhan from August 29, Karnakata girl Bhandavya HM has impressed coach Fransico Garcia and selectors to make it to the 15-member list which will eventually be pruned to 12.

Speaking about her experience with senior players at the national camp here, Bhandavya said it was dream come true for her. “I am training with many experienced players. There is a lot to learn from them such as their toughness and skills,” said the second year Pre-University student.

The 17-year old added that everything has happened in quick time for her and said that she is enjoying her time with the side. “It is a great feeling. I never thought I will be in the senior circuit so early in my career. I feel very happy,” she gleamed.

Playing for Alva’s Moodbidri Club, Bhandavya was called up for the national camp after her good performance in the first Women’s Basketball League held in Bengaluru.

With the final 12-member team to be announced next week, Bhandavya, who has represented the country in the age-groups, is striving hard to make it to the final squad.
