JOIN USAccording to the statistics available with the office of the District Malaria Control Officer, it has claimed two lives in the district, so far. One of the victims belonged to Siravar village of Manvi taluk and the other was from Hunsyal Huda village near Raichur.
Apart from this, as many as 24 persons are said to be suffering from dengue and 158 others are awaiting the test results.
All the confirmed cases have been shifted to hospitals in Hyderabad and VIMS Hospital in Bellary.
Most of the patients visiting private hosptials in Raichur, are showing symptoms of dengue. Emergency cases are being referred to Hyderabad and VIMS Hospital in Bellary.
According to statistics available, a total of 14 cases have been reported from the Devera Colony, Ragimanagadda, Maddipet and Harijanwad in Raichur City and Yapaladinni, Atkur and Yaragunta villages in Raichur taluk. A case each has been reported from Somanamaradi village of Deodurga taluk and Pamanakallur in Manvi taluk. Two cases have been reported from Sindhanur taluk and six from Lingasugur taluk.
Blood samples
District Malaria Control Officer Narasimhalu told Deccan Herald that the blood samples of the suspected dengue patients have been sent to Bellary for tests. The number of people suffering from fever, cough and bodyache has been on the rise and all the hospitals in the district are bustling with patients.
The department is organising awareness programmes in the wake of increasing malaria cases. Posters are being pasted everywhere. Awareness is being created through panchayats and the City Municipal Council, the officer explained.
The CMC commissioner and the hygiene officers have also been advised to take precautionary measures. “There is no lapse on our side,” the officer clarified.
Cleanliness measures, fogging and other steps should be taken to contain the spread of the disease, he added.
